The most effective means of preventing malaria is sleeping under a mosquito net, specifically a long-lasting insecticide treated net. Click here to race for a net.

A long-lasting insecticide treated
bed net costs $10, which covers
the cost of purchasing the net,
delivering it to those most in
need and educating families
on its proper use.

The Lutheran Malaria Initiative (LMI) is a partnership of Lutheran World Relief and The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) to mobilize U. S. Lutherans in the global effort to eliminate malaria deaths in Africa by 2015. LMI is made possible through support from the United Nations Foundation.

The Malaria Initiative is a key effort of the LCMS. In fact, all 35 LCMS districts are participating. The goal for our congregation is to increase awareness, raise funds to purchase mosquito nets, and actively pray for the people in Africa. In conjunction with our 150th anniversary celebration, we intend to present a check to President Harrison with the funds we raise for LMI.

Can a single donation of a sleeping net really make is difference? See for yourself. Read this article about the results seen in Tanzania.
